Taino Symbols Page 4

The term petroglyph should not be mistaken for pictograph, a distinct and more sophisticated form of symbolic representation. While petroglyphs are typically carvings or engravings on rock surfaces, pictographs are painted images that often convey a narrative, weaving a chronological tale that unfolds across time. Unlike petroglyphs, which may depict isolated figures or motifs, pictographs employ a sequence of images to communicate complex stories, cultural beliefs, or historical events, serving as a visual chronicle of human experience through the ages.

This page includes some symbols of spirals which could represent water. Each designed to evoke the essence of water, symbolizing its fluidity, movement, and cyclical nature. These motifs may reflect the dynamic, flowing patterns of water, capturing its serene yet powerful presence in a visually compelling manner
