A:Thanks for your email. I've searched for a long time seeking the Taino petroglyph meanings in books and in cultural intuitions in Puerto Rico but the Taino people did not have a written language. Also, the historical documentations written during the times of Columbus didn't include what the rock carvings represented. The petroglyph symbols that have been given names like the Coqui and Sun are educated speculation based on Taino mythology as well as guesses by the Island's people.

Q: Hello! My husband is Puerto Rican & remembers a Taino Image he saw once of a Carving on a Throne or Chair. Do you have images of items like this? I know it has a series of 3 circles on it & a rectangular outline with many different designs in it.

A: Hello, Thanks for your email. I believe your husband is taking about a Dujo which were short wooden seats with curved back rests. These were usually carved with religious symbols. At the moment, my ebook only includes symbols from rock carvings or petroglyphs.
